MBA Graduate

It was so long ago now.

Finally, the day came when I completed grad school and was set to walk across the stage and receive my HOOD! As stated, I completed my Masters of Business Administration in an accelerated program, mortar and brick campus setting (important to me). I was in a cohort of 10 where our number went up and down depending on the class, but we started as a group of 10 then quickly went to 9 after course one. By the end, there were 7 in class. Some lost to online due to job/life demands, yet we stayed in contact and still do to this day trying to link again to have a catch up session :)

I loved my experience at Baker as I completed my Masters. I would encourage anyone to use this program. I believe the interest in this program has since lowered as the campus was moved to Stormont versus the Wanamaker location. I thought it was odd how I never see cars when passing by. Being in school again brought me great pride and happiness even though I complained when it was time for homework....which was a never-ending feat. I made new life friends whom which I share this accomplishment. Something about being in a class for 4 hours weekly brings some together. I made a new close friend (her BF was in my class).

Graduation was May 2016, we completed our last course on May 11th and got together with significant others Thursday evening for a night out at Blue Moose! Good times!!!

Day of my graduation was a overwhelming amount of emotion. Family and friends traveled miles to be with me! From Georgia to Michigan and in between from Oklahoma! From JC to KC! From SW Topeka to Baldwin City....I believe 4 vehicles traveled to the Baker U campus to share in this auspicious occasion!

I had planned the weekend out since I had guests flying in.....typically I prefer low-key small settings.

We started Friday after work for me where the take over of my parents house began! i didn't want everyone having to cook and clean so we did most things out. Also, was trying to keep cost down, I mean I had just completed my 40K degree....... Like at 9pm I made everyone get on the road to Lawrence (Fuzzy's) to meet up with my home girl and her mom. later realizing they would have come to Topeka and we could have continued to drink at home :)

Saturday, the posse rode into Baldwin City and grabbed a spot in the gymnasium waiting for the ceremony to begin. I snapped some pre and post photos with my cohort as well as shared additional laughs. One of us were extremely late and DRUNK. I could not believe it. So out of the norm for her :) All Spring graduates marched the campus and entered the gymnasium to our awaiting guests. My name was called as Thompson although my diploma read Boler (as it was Boler that applied to grad school).

We had dinner at Hereford House in Leawood, made it in time for HH then a formal dinner setting.

Drinks were set to commence at Carlos for LIT as they had become my new fave and that way others could celebrate with me :) at my age, not many people came out, but a few.

I barely made church on Sunday.....then an evening of apps and drinks at Blue Moose to wrap up the weekend festivities. Rented out the rooms and had a menu prepared including drink tickets for my guests. Attempted to set my cousin up with a do well guy working at the same organization as myself....she wasn't having it. A girl can dream.

The rest of the evening was probably uneventful, I know I had to work the next day. I truly do not remember. I was an official MBA grad and school work was behind me! I was and still am proud and feel accomplished!

Love & Peace.
